Every person in an organization has a specific function to get the job done, and yet all are held “responsible for safety.” Top leaders, project managers, and supervisors have a particularly wide scope of influence and accountability, so it is critical that they demonstrate commitment through both words and actions. It starts with leading by example, but true leadership goes beyond wearing proper PPE and ensuring others do the same. This presentation is an interactive teaching event in which Caterpillar Safety Services will present on over 40 years of research, lessons learned, and best practices on the topic of safety cultural improvement. This includes data from our internal (Caterpillar) and external (various Industry) customers. We will discuss safety cultural improvement through embedding safety into daily operations, educating leaders on visible commitment and accountability, training supervisors on how to be effective safety leaders in the field, and by actively engaging employees in safety improvement. At the end of the presentation we will discuss how Caterpillar Safety Services might partner with your organization to improve safety.
