Mission Statement
The Building Division of the AGC of Missouri shall support the AGC in positioning itself as the voice of the construction industry by building collaborative relationships and educating owners and industry partners about the issues facing building contractors. The Building Division will promote practices which are efficient, encourage proficient use of technology, and enhance workforce development, inclusion, labor relations, and an integrated industry.
Current Issues
Labor Relations
The Building Division of the AGC of Missouri focuses heavily on providing labor relations services for eastern Missouri and the St. Louis region. Labor contracts for this marketplace include carpenters, cement masons, ironworkers, laborers, and operating engineers. AGCMO staff provides both negotiation services and on-going consultation regarding union labor issues for AGCMO members.
Workforce
Recruitment, retention, and training of craftworkers is a primary activity of the AGCMO Building Division. By supporting the facilities and operations of the Construction Training School in St. Louis, any number of industry training opportunities are available for AGCMO members including hands-on apprenticeship training, supervisory training, leadership training, and special events and seminars such as BIM and technology training.
Inclusion
Efforts to increase the diversity of the construction industry in this area include both the support and development of MBE/WBE/DBE firms and workforce inclusion. Through the support of various contractor development programs, opportunities are provided to help new and emerging businesses of all types gain business in the construction marketplace. In conjunction with workforce activities, recruitment and retention of new craftworkers from every ethnic background and gender are a high priority for AGCMO.
